Hydro-Mulching- A Grass Planting Process
Hydro-mulching, sometimes referred to as hydro-seeding, is a grass planting process. The process is fast, efficient, and economical. This grass planting process is usually more effective than conventional seeding and certainly more economical than conventional sodding. MORE->

What is Hydro-Sprigging?
The terms "hydro-seeding" and "hydro-mulching" have been used to define an improved grass seeding processes. Seed is not available for some grass varieties. However, some grasses can be planted by using living pieces of grass instead of seed in the tank of a TurfMaker ®. These grass sprigs are harvested from an existing stand of grass, usually at a sod farm. At this time, the only grasses that are commonly "hydro-sprigged" are warm season grasses such as the numerous varieties of hybrid Bermudagrass. MORE->

Tank Load Coverage
The area covered with a tank load of mulch, seed, and fertilizer (slurry) depends on the way it is applied to the ground. With a very small nozzle, as much as an acre (43,560 Sq. ft.) can be covered with as little as 430 gallons of slurry. The 430 gallons of slurry could easily be mixed with the appropriate amount of seed for an acre. However, only a limited amount of mulch can be mixed in 430 gallons of water. (If too much mulch is added, the slurry becomes too thick to pump.) The amount of mulch that is possible to be mixed in 430 gallons of water is not nearly enough for adequate coverage on an acre. Therefore,.the application would simply be planting seed on an acre with a minimal amount of mulch. MORE->

Is it Hydro-Seeding or Hydro-Mulching?
Hydro-seeding was devised as a method of distributing and planting seed by spraying seed with water. Hydro-mulching was later developed as an improved method of hydro-seeding. Hydro-seeding became hydro-mulching when mulch was added to the mixture, and when the application on the ground was thick enough to hold the seed in place, resist soil erosion, and help retain soil moisture.
